Mining in the Willsboro- mining district is ongoing at the mine, which has been in operation since 1983. Mining in the area was intermittent until the early 1953, when Cabot Corporation began wollastonite mining operations at the Willsboro mine for use as a ceramic base and filler (Olmsted et al. 1992; Whitney and Olmsted 1995).
